Goals of the Fellowship:

The goals of this fellowship are:

  • to offer an outstanding, clinically-focused inpatient intensive,
  • to provide leadership and academic opportunities,
  • to support research or project development,
  • to encourage maintenance and development of relevant family medicine-centered skills,
  • to enhance job marketability of our graduate. 

The above is being accomplished via the following five key components of the fellowship:

  1. Hospitalist training focused on inpatient adult medicine, working primarily with the CMH team and relying heavily on the SHM Core Competencies.2
  2. Subspecialty rotations and intensives pertinent to practice, including cardiology, pulmonology, critical care, nephrology, neurology, hematology/oncology and gastroenterology.
  3. Leadership and academic role with the CMFMR, educating residents and medical students via case presentations, didactics and as an attending on the inpatient teaching service.
  4. Completion, presentation and, if applicable, publication of a longitudinal research, quality, safety, guideline or development project.
  5. Accommodating and encouraging the fellow, should s/he have an interest in maintaining a skill specific to family medicine training such as outpatient care, pediatric care, osteopathic manipulation etc.
