Resident Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements for applying to the CMMC Family Medicine Residency Program are listed below. Please call or contact our office if you need more information.

  1. Documentation of one year of U.S. clinic experience — this requirement can be met by:

    • Being enrolled in a U.S. or Canadian medical school at the time of application, or

    • Documenting one year of physician supervised clinical experience as a physician-in-training (clerkships, externship). Please document this in the ERAS application.

  2. If not a US citizen, must qualify for J-1 visa through ECFMG.

  3. USMLE/COMLEX/ECFMG - No minimum score requirement. More than two attempts on any exam will likely result in no further consideration.

  4. Standardized Patient Evaluation Exam scores, if applicable.

  5. Have been out of medical school for no more than four (4) years.

  6. Use of Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) only

    • Contact your Dean’s Office or the ECFMG

  7. A personal statement (two-page maximum) outlining your interest in family practice and information about you, your family and your life interests. Please include personal interests (outside medicine) at the end of your personal statement.

  8. A curriculum vitae (CV), including volunteer/community involvement and organizations/affiliations. This will be automatically generated from the information you provide on your application and the ERAS program will then electronically forward it to the programs you apply to along with your other application pieces.

  9. Official transcript.

  10. Dean’s letter or equivalent.

  11. Three letters of recommendation. (At least one from a family physician is preferred.)
