About
We are a (7–7–7 unopposed) Family Medicine Residency Program
Location
South Central Maine is just 2½ hours from Boston, and 45 minutes from Maine’s rugged coastline or its majestic mountains. Lewiston/Auburn’s central location offers easy access to a myriad of activities, people and places without ever giving up the warm, secure feeling that living in a smaller community offers.
Mission
Central Maine Medical Center’s Family Medicine Residency Program prepares physicians to practice rural family medicine. The versatility of a rural educational plan allows graduates to practice in communities from 500 to 500,000.
The Site
CMMC’s 3-year Family Medicine Residency operates out of the Oscar Treat Turner Family Medicine Center, an outpatient health center adjacent to the medical center complex. The lower level houses program administration, conference space, and faculty, resident, and program staff offices. The ground level is the patient care area, which includes 18 exam rooms (four of which are equipped with OMT (Osteopathic Manipulation Treatment tables) and 2 treatment/procedure rooms, a large precepting area and a well stocked medical library.
History
Since its inception in 1978, the CMMC FMRP has graduated over 125 family physicians, practicing from Maine to California, Hawaii, Alaska, New Zealand and Norway, Scandinavia. The Residency recently celebrated its 30th Anniversary with a CME Program and several social celebrations.
