About

Mission

Central Maine Medical Center’s Family Medicine Residency Program prepares physicians to practice rural family medicine. The versatility of a rural educational plan allows graduates to practice in communities from 500 to 500,000.

The Site

CMMC’s 3-year Family Medicine Residency operates out of the Oscar Treat Turner Family Practice Center, an outpatient health center adjacent to the medical center complex. The lower level houses program administration, faculty and residents' offices. The ground level is the patient care area, which includes 18 exam rooms (three of which are equipped with OMT (Osteopathic Manipulation Treatment) tables) and 2 treatment/procedure rooms plus a patient education area, a family counseling room, a large precepting area and a well stocked medical library.

History

Since its inception in 1978, the CMMC FPRP has graduated over 100 family physicians who practice from Maine to California, Hawaii, Alaska and New Zealand. The Residency will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary in mid-September with a CME Program and several social celebrations.
